ISTMA EUROPE HIGHLIGHTS VALUE OF AUTOMOTIVE TOOLING FORECAST (ATF) FOR MEMBERS

In a recent interview, ISTMA Europe President, Stephan Berz, emphasized the strategic importance of the Automotive Tooling Forecast (ATF) and its critical role in helping members identify future business opportunities. Developed by ISTMA Europe, the ATF serves as a vital predictive tool for toolmakers navigating the evolving automotive landscape.

The ATF relies on comprehensive data provided by GlobalData, which is carefully analysed and processed to deliver actionable business insights. By tracking the number of new car models and vehicle facelifts planned for the coming years in Europe, the forecast allows toolmakers to map out potential areas for future business development.

Mapping the 2028 Pipeline

A key takeaway highlighted is the specific timeline governing automotive procurement. Start of production (SOP) and facelift schedules typically trigger tooling demand approximately two years in advance. Consequently, vehicles scheduled for SOP or a facelift in 2028 are expected to generate tooling requests from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 suppliers as early as 2026. This makes the current data cycle crucial for members planning their capacity and pipeline today.

ISTMA Europe remains confident that the insights delivered in the Automotive Tooling Forecast will continue to drive informed decision-making and provide exceptional value to toolmakers across the continent.
